Employee steals $900,000

The Field Museum in Chicago recently disclosed that a theft, allegedly perpetrated by an employee over seven years, resulted in the loss of $900,000.  According to this story on DNAinfo.com, the employee, who has not been charged, pocketed a percentage of museum membership fees and was fired in 2014.

 

Fortunately, the museum had proper crime insurance and they were able to recover their losses. Fraud can occur anytime, anywhere and business of all types need to protect themselves from losses.
